Married 1639 in Bergen, NJ
Ytie came to New Amsterdam (NY City) in 1639
From Dye-Wilson & Montgomery-Wild Families:
"He and his wife arrived in New Netherland (New Amsterdam) in 1639 aboard "The Fire of Troy" (deBrant van Trogan), captained by Capt. Jochem Kuyter, also from Holstein. The ship sailed from Hoorn bringing farmers, herdsmen and laborers to start a new colony located in the present Harlem. Laurens had dealings with the famous Jonas Bronck and Pieter Andriessen regarding land, plantings, etc. The book "Scandinavian Immigrants in New York, 1630-1674" said he came on board "deBrant van Trogen with Kuyter, Jonas Bronck, and Andriessen. Was to work for Bronck clearing the land purchased from Indians. The Bronx was named after Jonas Bronck.
After his first wife died, he married her sister Gritje Jansen in 1666.
"However, Laurens (Hans) had a bit of a morals problem. First, he had sold his wife Ytie to someone else, forcing her to "live in sin." He was punished by having an ear removed and then banned from New Amsterdam for 50 years. He removed to Bergen, NJ. He got into trouble later over some pigs he owed as rent and failed to pay. His sons Hans and Jan were better behaved, leading a good life in Harlem. in 1667. There was also some trouble over the rent - he apparently failed to pay the price of a hog for the rent."
